How This Came To Be
The Curious Gift Co. has been a long time coming.
For nearly 15 years, the idea sat quietly in the background of my life. It would surface now and then, usually when I found the perfect gift for someone or imagined what a truly thoughtful shop could feel like. But for a long time, it wasn’t the season to build it.
My early thirties were full in a different way. I was living with chronic pain, navigating fertility struggles, and raising a young child. It was a time that required everything I had, and then some. The idea stayed, but it waited.
This past year, something shifted.
After surgery, the pain eased in a way I hadn’t experienced in years. My mind felt clearer. My focus sharper. My ADHD brain, no longer working overtime just to manage discomfort, suddenly had space to think, to create, to follow through.
And the idea came back, this time with energy behind it.
So I built it.
The Curious Gift Co. is rooted in a love of books, storytelling, and the quiet art of getting a gift just right. It’s for the people who notice the details, who remember what someone said months ago, who believe that the best gifts feel personal and a little unexpected.
It’s also a reflection of where I’m from. Chatham-Kent, Canadiana, and that feeling of being connected to a place, even when you’re not in it every day.
Mostly, it’s for the kind of person who sees gift-giving as more than a transaction.
It’s a way of saying, I see you.
